Norway, whose government has encouraged the use of Open Source solutions for years, is the latest venue for Atricore's Identity Management solutions. Atricore has partnered with Conduct, Norway's leading open source software service provider, adding local commercial support to the identity solutions tool bag for European customers.

In technically advanced Norway, businesses need to work hard to keep up with consumers. Open source solutions are the norm, from the government level on down. High-tech is just everyday business here; for example, citizens enjoy one-click access to a host of government services and information through the Norway.no Web site. Described as "the gateway to the public sector in Norway" the site offers Norwegian citizens a secure portal to public agencies, the presentation of personal data stored in public registers and the opportunity to submit online applications and notifications. The site's list of links reads like a list of ingredients for what makes the world go 'round: Banking, Industry and Trade, Diplomacy, Tourism and Trade Relations, Culture and Science, Education - agencies involved in all these areas reach Norwegian consumers through the Norway.no site. The consumer can literally log-in to their government, tapping in to a wealth of information and services.

But is it secure? You bet it is. Very, very secure, through the use of built-in federated identity management. However, what makes the site secure for Norway's technically savvy consumers can pose an obstacle to the companies who hope to access the portal in order to reach them.
